Proposition Backlash

As many of you know, Proposition 8 passed in California that banned same-sex marriage in the state. The people of California voted on the Proposition, and this became the result. As usual, this has caused a serious backlash from those who were and are against the proposition:

Many of these protests went a bit out of line for my taste at least. One supporter of Proposition 8 brought a plastic foam cross, and the protestors stomped on it. Some protestors actually went to a Mormon church chanting "separate church and state".

Yet, people forget that the residents of California voted on the future of the Proposition, and more people voted "yes" to Proposition 8 than "no". About 52.3% voted yes, whereas only 47% voted no.

Some celebrities including Janice Dickenson, Melissa Etheridge, Brad Pitt and even Fall Out Boy spoke out against the passing of Proposition 8.

Honestly, what is wrong with states' rights? Stuff like this doesn't go outside the state borderline. What happens in Nevada legislatively doesn't affect what happens in Nebraska, Ohio, Utah, etc. Same-sex marriage falls under the category of "responsibilities that belong to the states and not the federal government". People who don't like Proposition 8 can still go to Massachusetts and/or even Connecticut. What bothers me is that there are residents of other states trying to kill this Proposition in California.

As far as I remember, we are the United STATES of America. If California's Proposition 8 angers you so much, airlines out are open, and one-way tickets are still available.
